My mom used to make this and it is my favorite meal. The pork butts come out so tender and juicy. ‘Butts’ are a favorite in my family. Serve with baked or mashed potatoes and a veggie. If you like a lot of sauce then double the recipe, the sauce is fantastic.
I stumbled upon pork shoulder steaks at my local grocery. I had never seen them before but it makes so much sense. How can someone enjoy the tastiness of a boston butt and not have to wait hours upon hours for the payoff? Make it into steaks.
This recipe still takes two hours for tender meat but it’s well worth it. The meat just falls off the bone.
Recipe change note: Instead of ketchup I use Stubbs Hickory Bourbon barbecue sauce. I also made it for 6 steaks so seared them in a pan and then transferred to a Le Creuset dutch oven.
