Comic Review: All-New X-Men #30

Now THIS is what I’ve been wanting from an X-Men issue: some nice character development and good old relationship building. AND who can forget the amazing Sara Pichelli on pencils (plus an Immonen cover). Marte Gracia was expert on coloring this issue as well. The panels really jumped out to me.

This issue is (sort of) an interlude to Uncanny X-Men #24. We get a recap of Laura and Warren’s night out and I can appreciate the bond they are developing. Did they go to the Bob Evans though? There is also the surprising relationship between Emma and… Jean? Very interesting due to all the history of older Jean Grey and the White Queen. The anticipation from the rest of the team on what is going to happen when they are mentally battling each other is funny and intriguing. We are even given a glimpse into the new relationship that Kitty Pryde and Peter Quill have developed. They are essentially hologram dating but I think both of them don’t mind at all and really just want someone to talk to. There’s a lot of stuff going on in both of their worlds.

All around a solid issue. I’m glad I don’t really need to do a step by step on this one. Just get it, read it, enjoy it.

A favorite panel and page for this issue. Have I mentioned that I love Sara Pichelli’s art?
