I decided I’m going to include my favorite panel of the issue for those that I am able to get them. This will mostly include the Marvel titles, unless I can find images for the DC and Image or IDW titles I read somewhere else.
All-New X-Factor #’s 7 & 8 – Here we meet Georgia Dakei. A teen who the team decides she is in need of their help. They go in to “liberate” her and receive a very big surprise. I enjoy Peter David’s writing in this arc. Now that the team is assembled, their personalities are shining through the dialogue. There are debates, arguments and little side comments that intrigue me and have even made me laugh out loud, especially from
Daredevil #2 – I’ve been a fan of Daredevil for a long time, even though I never owned a Daredevil title outright. I read the miniseries “Daredevil: Dark Knights” since they were outside of the main title. Now that The Man Without Fear is now in San Francisco I’ve decided to try him out monthly, and I think it will be fun. I heard nothing but good things about Waid/Samnee/Rodriguez and their work on the last volume. There’s no reason to think it hasn’t carried over to this one.
Wolverine and the X-Men #4 – I’m giving Latour and Asrar some time to establish themselves in the X-universe. I think this first arc is interesting with Quintin Quire wondering if his future is inevitable and will he be facing Genesis down the road when he becomes the new Apocalypse. I love the scene of the Cuckoos controlling Kid Omega’s mind with Cyclops having a discussion with him. He and Cyclops have some real in-depth discussion about fate, destiny and choice. Picked this panel because of Ororo, no other reason 🙂
Iron Fist #2 – We learn that Iron Fist has to return to K’un Lun and a passage has been close by all along. I love what Kaare Kyle Andrews is doing with the art. The aged effect placed on the flashbacks is pretty genius. The panel I included is not actually my favorite for this title. It’s the one that follows. It’d ruin the fun if I revealed that panel, however, so you will just have to get the issue to see.
Moon Knight #3 – He’s fighting a gang of ghosts? Interesting. I love pages of just panels. When the write can just let the artist tell the story. This WAS a quick read though. I find Moon Knight a series that you need to read the issue more than once to understand everything that happened. The similarities of Moon Knight and Batman are there, loosely. Moon Knight is definitely more of a nut job. This panel though is a classic Batman pose. Who would run shitless from a guy dressed like this though, be they ghost or not?
All-New X-Men #27 – I’m not sure what Bendis’s endgame is with the flashbacks and flash forwards. I’m sure we’ll just have to wait and see. But apparently Mystique is the baby mama to Charles Xavier but can’t go through with some plan devised by the Prof. So her love children actually run the Future Brotherhood. That’s right, Raze and Charlie Xavier are brothers. Weird. I’m still learning the powers of the new X-Men from Uncanny. I think I need to reread the issues I have and try to get a better understanding of them. From my panel below though, they are still learning about themselves as well.
Uncanny X-Men #21 – I have no idea who the villain is taking over the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier from afar and whatnot. He has some link to Beast however. I’m just along for ride on this one. I enjoy that the X-titles seem to be showing Storm’s baddassery a little more, at least from what I noticed/remember from my previous readership. Maybe it has to do with her solo title coming out soon. Who knows? It was nice to see Magneto is back. I haven’t been tracking his movements in his title but I hear it’s good. I hope he sticks around in Uncanny. Sometimes I wish that the titles (All-New, Uncanny, X, Wolvie and X-Men) would all get together and decide who is where at what time and what is going on. In one place they’re getting possessed and under siege by future mutants and in another they are just fine from the future but dealing with the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and their hijacked helicarrier. Would that be too much? Especially when these titles will be included in crossovers with each other at some point again, like in Battle of the Atom.
X-Men #14 – The X-women kill it again. And they are officially a team now? Are they the pink squad? Or do the blue and gold teams still exist? This “The Future” guy is interesting, I guess. We know he wants Shogo and he’s at the Jean Grey School to get him. Outside of that what do we know? Nothing really. Also, what are Kymera’s powers? Does she control the freaky panther?
Nova #17 – This was a fun issue. It helps to show that there doesn’t always have to be action to be intriguing. Sam has to deal with real world issues as teenager to a single mother and deal with intergalactic villains as well. He tries to help his mom out of debt ,which is hilarious, and shenanigans occur when his sister decides to don the Nova helmet. Funny side note: my daughter couldn’t help but stare at this issue cover. She even wanted me to buy another issue so she could have one of her own. I’m tempted to make her a costume of “she-“Nova for the heck of it. Any tips?
Cyclops #1 – I think this is going to be a fun Father/Son comic. Since starting Guardians I have become more interested in seeing space adventures. Plus, I have really enjoyed All-New X-Men. I would have passed over this title if it was following adult Cyclops but teenage Cyclops is oh so much more interesting since he has plenty of new things to learn and experience.
